The inspiration of 'Knocking on Heaven's Door' was in honour of the passing of my mom in early September of 2022. I spent many hours in my studio painting various pieces allowing myself to express a myriad of emotions.
Painting at this time helped me to celebrate her life and grieve the loss. There is an awareness of stepping out of this reality into a space of wonder and curiousity, feeling the energies of calm and peace, as I painted from my heart and soul.
It's as though my mom had a hand in the creation.I feel blessed to have had her in my life all these years (she was 94), and it feels like the end of an era.
Rest in peace kære mor. Jeg elsker dig. 💞🥰💫😇💙✨️
An excerpt from Maya Angelou's poem When Great Trees Fall touched me deeply.
"...And when great souls die,
after a period peace blooms,
slowly and always
irregularly. Spaces fill
with a kind of
soothing electric vibration.
Our senses, restored, never
to be the same, whisper to us.
They existed. They existed.
We can be. Be and be
better. For they existed."
